Kenya Smart Buildings & Automation Society
The professional society for Kenya's built environment specialists.
Uniting Smart HVAC-R, BMS, IoT, and building automation professionals across Kenya — raising standards, professionalising the workforce, and building the infrastructure of tomorrow.
Built by practitioners,
for practitioners.
Founded in 2025, the Kenya Smart Buildings & Automation Society (KSBAS) is East Africa's professional society for HVAC-R, BMS, IoT, and building automation practitioners. We are a society of working professionals — engineers, technicians, system integrators, and specialists — with chapters forming across technical institutions, including our founding chapter at the Railway Training Institute (RTI), Nairobi.
Beyond community, KSBAS delivers practical initiatives — from Kenya's first CDACC assessment compliance engine (ExamGuard) to a national programme for safe refrigerant disposal training among licensed scrap metal dealers.
Smart HVAC-R Training at RTI →ExamGuard — CDACC Assessment Compliance Engine
Kenya's first dedicated assessment compliance engine for TVET institutions. ExamGuard analyses examination papers against CDACC standards and instantly flags compliance gaps — work that previously took 2–4 hours of manual moderation now done in under 5 minutes.
Safe HVAC Disposal Training for Licensed Scrap Metal Dealers
Kenya's HCFC phase-out took full effect January 2026 — every end-of-life AC unit at scrap yards must have refrigerant recovered before processing. Yet 1,100 licensed scrap dealers currently have no training on safe gas handling. KSBS is closing this gap.
Working through the dealer licensing office, KSBS delivers mandatory 1-day Safe HVAC Disposal Training as a prerequisite for annual license renewal — deploying recovery machines on-site and training toward the full 1,100-dealer national target.
